most people create a blog to write posts frequently. those of you who have checked our blog in the last week are probably wondering if i really get this whole blog concept since i have written a mere paragraph and posted a picture of dan and i that is over a year old. i have been recently been informed however that my next post needs to be before nova's 16th birthday party and before dan and my golden anniversary. so here it is in all its glory.
not to give excuses, but i have been gone for a week. the last week i have spent at my cousin kelsi's house just a mile down the road to tend her kids. kelsi's little sister bailee was also there and we hung out from the 17th to the 24th while kelsi and her husband kevin went to hawaii for a business trip. bailee, the 4 kids, and i completed arts and crafts, played in the kiddie pool, ran through sprinklers, played hide and seek, did puzzles, competed in obstacle courses, picked and ate strawberries, made paper airplanes and created masterpieces using side walk chalk. the kids were really good and i had a fun time hanging out with them and bailee.
i do, as of late, have a newfound respect for mothers and have realized why Heavenly Father sends 1 baby at time starting at the age of 0. let me explain. if i was to give birth to a 5, 4, 2, and a 1 year old all at the same time the following would be true.
a) the learning curve would be a lot steeper.
b) physically it would also be challenging--carrying a 6 lb child in the womb is enough to throw off your balance, equilibrium, mental stability and your rib cage.
c) the ability to move would be drastically decreased. one child inside is enough to make the simplest task of getting out of a chair as difficult as running up the face of table rock. adding at least another 40-50 lbs to your center of gravity would mean transporting yourself around like a wiener dog with no legs instead of waddling around like a duck.
d) you would need to dilate to much bigger than a 10, (not that i have had experience in labor, but from what i hear a 10 doesn't feel big enough for 1 small infant, let alone 4 children ranging from ages 5-1.)
e) and to top it off: a 10,000 plus page instruction manual from Heavenly Father would also need to be included in the delivery. this manual would need to include pictures, table of contents, index, bibliography, references, dictionary, recipes, practice questions, answer key in the back and a free bonus inspirational dvd entitled "how to be a mom without killing yourself and your 4 children." seeing that this would add another additional 50-60 lbs (at least) to the pregnancy culminating in a possible 100 pounds of weight to gain in 9 months (and this isn't even counting water retention) it just wouldn't work. i have heard many a mother say that they wished that children came with a manual. be grateful that they don't because it probably reduces the occurence of a whole lot of episiotomies. children are big enough without a book attached to them.
so to change the subject, i have been told several times that i need to get a picture of my pregnant stomach on the blog so people can see how cute nova is, or rather how spherical my middle is expanding--why haven't i? because it isn't on my list of things to do to post a picture on the world wide web of my STOMACH! especially a stomach that is not recognizable as my own. but because i give into peer pressure, by all means please enjoy the pictures. after you do, go and drop a pen on the floor and pick it up and say a prayer of thanks that you were able to complete such an easy task without strain, difficulty, grunting, falling or ripped pants!! :) after all, life is about being grateful for the little things right?

Hey Suzanne - not many people will tell you this in the next few weeks, but I would trade you places in a heartbeat! Don't feel sorry for me though because number three's pregnancy goes by way faster. I can't believe I am already four months. Not to make this too long, but you will find I almost never comment on blogs - due to lack of intelligent things to say, so I will be checking, but please don't get offended when I don't say anything. You look cute! (Nova too!)
Sue! I was so excited to find your blog! It is such a fun way to stay in touch with everyone. It was fun to see you on Monday and Tuesday and I am so excited for you to have your baby! Good luck and keep us posted! Oh, and I tried to pick up a pen, but Liam got to it first!
